Wells Maine

Wells Maine was established in 1653 and has a population of 9,400.

Wells, Maine was the third town to incorporate in the State of Maine, and is named after Wells, England. The native Abenaki Indians, referred to Wells as "Webhannet" meaning, "at the clear stream." The "clear stream" is the Webhannet River.

Originally, Wells, Maine included the communities of Kennebunk, Maine and Ogunquit, Maine.
